Maria Mason

AVP, Sr. Treasury Management Product Manager, Fifth Third Bank

Maria manages Fifth Third Bank’s Instant Payments product, which includes Real Time Payments (RTP), Request for Payment (RFP) as well as the future build out of FedNow. She works across teams internally at Fifth Third and within the partnership to help optimize product performance, product innovation, client satisfaction, and product growth. Maria has been at Fifth Third Bank for over six years in various roles covering IT and Product. Before her role at Fifth Third Bank, she worked for Sallie Mae Student Loan Services, where she converted back-office systems to a single platform. Maria serves on the board for the Brain Tumor Board where she leads patient advocacy and chairs Fundraising. In addition, she loves spending time on adventures, whether it is traveling on vacations, spending time at the log cabin on the river or boating with friends. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband and son.

Cheryl Gurz

Vice President, RTP Network Product Manager, The Clearing House (TCH)

Cheryl joined The Clearing House in 2019 as their Real Time Payments Product Manager. In this role, she drives product adoption and usage of the TCH Real Time Payment Network which went live in the US in November 2017. This is the first new payments infrastructure in the US since the ACH network was introduced in the 1970’s. Cheryl advises bank and corporate clients on Real Time Payments best practices and market trends.

Before The Clearing House, Cheryl held diverse roles including product/market management, bank operations, auditing, and solution consulting. She has held leadership roles across global transaction banking, specializing in providing strategic payment solutions to the industry at Citi, BNY Mellon, HSBC and CGI. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting from Niagara University and Master Organizational Leadership (MOL) from Wilmington University.

Dan Gonzalez

Vice President, National Account Director, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

Dan Gonzalez is a vice president—national account director for the Federal Reserve’s Customer Relations and Support Office, based out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Gonzalez’s responsibilities include collaborating and engaging with the industry to define and prioritize system improvements that advance payment speed, efficiency, and security. He has overall responsibility for the Federal Reserve’s Financial Services relationships with the top 25 financial institutions in the country, as well as payment networks and service providers. Gonzalez spent the last several years working closely with key industry participants on their efforts to establish faster and more efficient payment systems. He has over 28 years experience in payments, sales, marketing, and management in the financial services industry. Gonzalez is a graduate of Siena College (Loudonville, NY) and the Federal Reserve’s Business Development University. He resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
