Foreign currency exchange is the act of exchanging one type of currency for another. For example, if you’re planning an international trip to Europe, you may want to plan ahead and exchange U.S. dollars for Euros so that you are prepared to cover cash expenses as soon as you arrive without having to stop at an exchange office at your destination. Fifth Third customers can buy and sell foreign currency at their local branch with competitive exchange rates. And when you return from your trip, Fifth Third can buy back any unused foreign currency, exchanging it back into U.S. dollars.

All Fifth Third locations can assist customers who wish to exchange foreign currency. More than 50 locations carry the most popular currencies on site so you can complete your exchange the same day. If you are a Fifth Third customer, there is no minimum or maximum amount of foreign currency you can exchange. Non-Fifth Third customers can exchange the equivalent of no more than $1,500 USD per day and no more than $4,000 USD per month.

No, foreign currency transactions must be performed in person and may not be placed in the night or business deposit boxes.

• Before your trip, make photocopies of all your important documents, credit cards, debit cards, and passport information. Should you find yourself in a situation without them, you'll still have access to the cards if you need to make any emergency payments or cancellations.
