Fifth ThirdEarly Pay

When you have an eligible direct deposit to your Fifth Third Momentum^® Checking Account or your Fifth Third Express Banking^® Account, you get Early Pay automatically.

Early Pay grants access to your direct deposit up to two days prior to the scheduled payment date. Early availability of your paycheck is based on the timing of the payer’s payment instruction.

Not all direct deposits may be eligible for Early Pay. It depends on the type of deposit and when we receive the payroll deposit from your employer.¹

There’s no guarantee that you will always receive your paycheck up to two days early, since it depends on when each payroll item is received by us for posting. That’s why it’s important for you to monitor your accounts to make sure your direct deposit is funded to your account before spending funds.

Not at all! It’s free to anyone with a Fifth Third Momentum^® Checking Account or a Fifth Third Express Banking^® Account. So, if you haven’t already, set up your direct deposit to start enjoying an early payday!

When your Early Pay is available, we'll send a notification to you through our mobile app. 
So, make sure to download the app and turn on Early Pay notifications at Profile > Alerts > Manage Alerts > Manage by Account.

The IRS will begin processing refunds on January 18, 2024. Here’s what to do to get your refund up to 5 days early:

• Locate your Fifth Third Momentum^® Checking account and routing number, which you can find in our mobile app.
• Go to “Login” > Select your “Fifth Third Momentum^® Checking” > Tap “Account & Routing Numbers.” (Fifth Third Express Banking^® accounts are also eligible.)
• When filing your taxes, select that you’d like your refund direct deposited to your bank account, and enter your Fifth Third Momentum^® Checking account and routing number.
• Once your federal refund has been processed by the IRS and Fifth Third Bank receives the funds, we will post it to your account. If you’d like to be notified when your funds are posted, you can manage your Early Pay alerts by going to “Profile” in your mobile app.

Note: If you file with an online tax service, you will still be eligible to receive your return up to 5 days early.
